Recharge Yourself With Rest
Don’t forget to take breaks during the day! Allowing a change in pace and a pause from work, rest is as essential to your health as sleep, and it’s time that’s well spent. Without a period of rest, you may be sacrificing efficiency and quality.
Choose activities that revitalize your mind as well as your body. The common coffee break with pastries and cigarettes may give you a temporary energy boost, but not serve you well in the long haul. Sugar, nicotine, and caffeine create large swings in your energy that are draining rather than energizing to your body. Instead seek activities that stabilize your energy and put you in a positive frame of mind. Most people find that a change in environment or going to quieter place with fewer people helps them to relax. Here are some energizers to try during your break:
1. Eat a fruit, low-fat yogurt or other healthy snacks for an energy boost.
2. Take a walk around the block for some fresh air.
3. Take 5 to10 minutes from your lunch break to stretch, meditate, do deep muscle relaxation, or deep breathing.
4. Listen to relaxing music.
